Simple Things...

I love the simple things in life lately: taking Ruby on a walk, a cold Diet Coke, BEAUTIFUL weather, a rare chance to sleep in, green grass, a long nap, daffodils and tulips, funny conversations with Ruby, March Madness, checking things off the wedding list, leaving the windows open and feeling the cool breeze through the house, doing yard work, taking pictures, reading a good book (it only took me two years after having Ruby to start another one...), playing at the park, baby animals at the zoo, shopping with my little Miss, and enjoying a picnic in the park. I feel very blessed. Happy Saturday! Here is a photo of Ruby and her two buddies enjoying a picnic today. What are the simple things you love?

Spring Break...

This week I have been enjoying a full week off of work with my Ruby. On Sunday we headed to Colorado for a couple of days to visit some family. This was Ruby's first official road trip and she did pretty good on the long drive. I planned on her sleeping for most of the trip, but she didn't sleep a wink on the way there or the way home. Entertaining a two year old confined to a car seat for 7 and a half hours was no easy task... I'm still recovering.

Colorado was beautiful, as always. Ruby got to meet her two new twin baby cousins and she got to spend a lot of time with with their big brother. This was also her first time seeing the mountains or "mountees" like she calls them. It was a short trip, but we were exhausted when we finally made it home. I can't believe how fast this week has flown by. Here are few snapshots from our trip:

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Having a mom who is a kindergarten teacher is great, she always gives me the best ideas for fun things to do with Ruby. Last night we had a great time putting together our leprechaun trap. I think this is going to be a yearly tradition in our house. Ruby is going to be so disappointed that he got away... but not before leaving her a sweet treat. Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Awareness...

This week is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week. This year I am putting together a team for the first time to raise money for and participate in the Multiple Sclerosis Walk in my community. I read a startling statistic the other day that stated if mother with MS has a daughter, her daughter has a 1 in 50 chance of developing MS in her lifetime as well. The thought of my sweet Ruby getting this terrible disease breaks my heart. With your help and support, Ruby might grow up in a world free of MS. Here is a great video about how MS impacts everyone that I borrowed from one of my favorite blogs (Jodi Beans Blog).

Here is also the link to my teams page. Please consider donating to help find a cure... it would mean the world to me!

Brave Ruby...

Last weekend we took a family trip to the zoo. Ruby got to pet a snake and loved every minute of it. I'm not sure where she gets her bravery from, but it definitely is not from me. She was so excited and afterward asked her dad if she could have a snake. I'm glad she got to have this adventurous experience, but we won't be getting any slithery friends anytime sssssoon!

Dancin' Away With My Heart...

I love this song... Enjoy!

The Dress...

The wedding to-do list is slowly but surely getting smaller by the day. We have chosen an aqua, ivory, and red vintage color theme. The venue, photographer, favors, DJ, cellist for the ceremony, cupcakes, photo booth, and most of the decorations have been selected. The only thing I really have left to find is the perfect dress. Since I live such an exciting life, my Friday nights are usually spent lounging on the couch in my pajamas and slippers watching "Say Yes to the Dress." It's something I actually look forward to every week. All of these wedding shows keep reminding me that I have yet to go dress shopping, but I keep putting it off for all sorts of reasons.

First of all, I have this vision in my mind of what I want to look like in a wedding dress and I'm not sure my vision and reality are going to match up just yet. I am and always have been super self-conscious. I absolutely hate being the center of attention, so this whole trying on dresses thing is quite terrifying for me. I'm tempted to go by myself, or maybe I will just take Ruby with me... she thinks I look pretty no matter what.

Another part of me keeps hesitating because I know in the back of mind I will be wishing my sister could share this experience with me. She would be so excited to watch me try on dresses and give her opinion. She should be here to help me with all of these little wedding details and most importantly she should be here to share this special day with our families. I need to come up with a clever way to include her on the wedding day.  Any ideas? All of these big moments in life make me miss her so much.

I know eventually all of the details will get figured out, but for now I'm going to try my hardest not to worry. I have a feeling it will all work out and be just how I imagined. I need to keep reminding myself that all of these little wedding stresses are silly when you put things into perspective.

Now, onto the reception dinner... but, not before a peek at Ruby's fun flower girl dress that I recently ordered. I can't wait to see her in this!
