A Wild Ride...

Today I took Ruby to her first story time at the neighborhood public library. She was shy at first but full of smiles the entire time. She loved sitting in a circle and meeting all of the kids. The theme today was airplanes. We sang songs about airplanes which made Ruby giggle. Then the teacher read two books about airplanes and Ruby sat in awe during both stories. To end our library adventure, Ruby got to make a picture of an airplane flying through clouds out of popcicle sticks and cotton balls. She loved sticking her fingers in the gooey glue. When it was time to go home, she gave the kids high fives and laughed. Needless to say, we will definitely be going to story time over the summer.

Later in the day we had to pick up the dogs at the groomer. Ruby thought it was so funny to see the other dogs in the shop getting hair cuts. She was so excited to see Winston and Darby with their new do's! We also got Ruby her very own sandbox today... she was ecstatic.

I can't believe this week is almost over, we have had so much fun together and I'm so excited for summer. P.S. I'm a lover of quotes, so you may see a favorite quote or two on here every once in a while.

Oh The Places We Go...

The past two days Scott, Ruby, and I have been spending some serious quality time together. Yesterday we enjoyed a nice family breakfast with Scott's parents and spent some time at the neighborhood park. We thought Ruby would love a trip to the park... last year you could hear her giggling on the swings from a mile away. She would start crying the minute we would take her out of the swing because she didn't want to stop. What a difference a few months makes! Back to yesterday... I knew we were in for trouble the minute I tried to get her in the baby swing, she struggled and kicked and it took both Scott and I just to get her legs in the swing. The moment we began to push her in the swing, her arms and legs started shaking wildly, her face turned red, and she cried with terror. As soon as we took her out she was fine, but we don't know when she turned into Little Miss Cautious. She did end up enjoying going down the slides though.
Today we decided to head out for a fun day at the zoo. Since we first took Ruby to the zoo when she was a couple months old, she has LOVED it. We hadn't been to the zoo since Ruby's first birthday, so we thought it would be a great thing to do together. We decided to stop at the aquarium first because she loves the penguins. Little did I know Miss Cautious was scared of everything in the aquarium, she almost cried the entire time. (We hope it is just a case of teething) I think she finally realized that the animals were staying in their cages when we reached the gorilla exhibit. Ruby was a little hesitant at first, but ended up being fascinated by the baby gorilla and adult gorillas playing and doing somersaults. She even waved at them with a grin on her face when we left. Then we sat and watched the polar bear swim some laps while Ruby gobbled on a snack. Although we had a rocky start to our day, we ended it on a sweet note. We took Ruby to our favorite ice cream shop for the first time. Scott introduced me to this shop when we first started dating and we have been loyal customers since. Ruby enjoyed a scoop of cake mix and by enjoyed, I mean that she would not share any of it with us. We don't blame her though, they do make the best ice cream in the city. Her messy little ice cream face was priceless. She sure has the funniest personality lately.

I treasure all of this family time together.

Beginnings...

I've decided to start a blog as a way to keep track of the memories in our household. Ruby just turned 16 months old and I can't believe how fast time is flying. She is a busy all the time. She has started saying small phrases like: "I love you!", "Night, Night", "Thank You!" and "Good Job." She usually is a chatterbox all day long, so I'm guessing she is going to take after me. She has been enjoying all sorts of new foods lately. Her most recent favorite foods include fresh mango, Qdoba chicken tacos, apple cinnamon oatmeal, and salad.

Recent Ruby happenings that make us smile:
-When she runs, she lifts her arms up behind her like she's taking off.
-Before bed, she must give every dog a kiss and hug.
-She shows her muscles while shaking with a red face.
-While doing something she knows she shouldn't, she will look at us out of the corner of her eye and grin.
-She always has to eat whatever her dad is eating. Even if I cut up the exact same thing for her dinner, she would rather share with daddy.
-She is slightly obsessed with jewelry. I always tell her that her future boyfriend is going to be in trouble because of her love for jewels.
-She enjoys shaking her bum when she dances.
-She loves to help "clean" by taking a cleaning wipe and wiping everything in her path.
-Whenever we go for a walk in the red wagon, she insists on wearing her sunglasses the entire time.
-Her hair is growing, growing, growing... I'm just itching to put it in pig tails. :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
This week I am on spring break and I can't wait to spend the next 9 days with Scott and Ruby. There's nothing like some good family bonding!
