Dear Ruby...

Dear Ruby,
Happy 2nd Birthday! It seems like just yesterday we were in the hospital celebrating your birth. The past 730 days have been filled with many sleepless nights, laughs, tears, milestones and a whole lot of fun! You make everyday sunnier and you always know how to make your daddy and me smile.

Lately…

You love to give kisses; especially Eskimo or “Mo” kisses and butterfly or “fly” kisses, as you like to call them.

You still love your dogs and are getting pretty good at getting them to sit and shake for treats.

You love to eat soup especially black bean soup… you even lean over the bowl so you don’t spill.

You have gotten really good at using your manners: please, thank you, etc.

You like to try and dress yourself, but you get frustrated easily.

You love singing especially the ABC’s… it’s even starting to actually sound like the ABC’s. You
also like singing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Stars” to your babies.

You enjoy playing with your baby dolls and think it is so neat that they have pacifiers too.

You like smiling for the camera and always give a big cheese.

You love to go shopping with mommy, yesterday you told me you wanted go to “Baby Gap” I have never been more proud.

You are still not a morning person and it still breaks my heart to wake you up in the morning to leave.

You had your first major sickness two weeks ago… a ruptured eardrum.  You were such a big girl at the doctor’s office and didn’t even cry.

You absolutely love watching Barney or “Baha,” as you like to call him… much to my dismay.

You still love to dance and I am just itching to get you into your first ballet class.

I love you to pieces and keep being you!

Love, Mom

My sweet girl, the day you were born.

P.S.- Pictures and details of your special day to follow at a later date.

Camping...

This week Ruby and I went camping. Well, it might not be what you think, considering I'm not much of an outdoors kind of girl and it's the beginning of November. Ruby has been sick for the past couple of days with a bad cough and a runny nose. The past two nights at bed time, we laid out her blankets on the carpet in her room and camped.

Instead of lying under the stars, we laid under the warm mist of the humidifier. Instead of a bright campfire surrounding us, we were surrounded by the faint glow of her night light. Instead of listening to the sounds of nature, we fell asleep to her music lullabies. Instead of sharing our tent with wild animals, we shared our bed with her beloved penguin stuffed animal, "Ba" and her favorite doll, "Baby". I can't think anything I would have rather done. I remember lying there thinking, "I can't imagine being anywhere else." I loved our camping trip! I hope she is feeling better soon, it breaks my heart to see her that way.

A Spooktacular Day...

Happy Halloween! This weekend we celebrated the season by carving pumpkins, dressing up, and trick-or-treating with the family. Tonight was Ruby's first time trick-or-treating. At each house she would run up to the door in her little red shoes and wait patiently for someone to open the door. She was so excited when she would get candy. She would stick her hand right in the bowl and help herself... she was definitely not shy about it. I loved seeing her have so much fun. It was a beautiful Halloween night in the neighborhood.
